Desi Arnaz’s 102nd Birthday: Desiderio Alberto Arnaz de Acha III (March 2, 1917 - December 2, 1986), known as Desi Ernée or Desi Earny, Sr., was a Cuban born American male actor, musician and television producer. It remembers him for his role as Ricky Ricardo in American television series Sitcom I Love Lucie. He co-starred with dramatic and comedic actress Lucin Ball (1911-1989) in the show it married him too. They credited him and Ball as the inventors of Syndicated Retro, which they started with I Love Lucy series

Bedrich Smetanas 195th Birthday


On this day in 1824, Smetana, born in Litmus of Bohemia, was performing as a pianist when she was six years old. His childhood friend (and future wife) Katarina Kolar helped her to teach piano lessons with composer Joseph Prox. In 1840, he wrote in his diary he aspired to become "a Mozart in structure and a list of techniques". His early works influenced Franz locket so much that the Hungarian composer offered him to find a publisher.

Bedřich Smetana, formerly known as Frederick Smetana, was born on March 2, 1824, in the province of the Habsburg Empire, near the conventional boundary between Bohemia and Moravia in Limmasol, east of Prague. He was the third child and the first son of Frantisek Smetana and his third wife Barbora Longview. Frantisek gave birth to eight children in two former marriages; five daughters were alive since childhood; He and Barbora had ten more children, seven of whom had grown to adulthood. German was the official language of Bohemia under the reign of Habsburg.
